We hope you had a relaxing summer and that your first week of classes is off to a great start. We’re excited for another year of working hard to achieve collective voice and power to secure fair pay, safe working conditions, and dignity on the job.

Back to School Social

Sign the Petition: 80/20 Affordable Healthcare
Our fight for affordable healthcare for our members continues. If you haven’t already, please sign the petition demanding UNM commit to an 80/20 healthcare cost split. UA-UNM spoke with the Albuquerque Journal to explain why the recent 13% insurance hike will leave nearly a third of full-time faculty earning less even after raises.
HELU-NM Higher Ed Healthcare Survey
UA-UNM is working in coalition with HELU-NM, a coalition of all higher ed unions in the state, to obtain a statewide mandate for an 80/20 insurance split for ALL higher ed workers. Higher Ed workers in NM are the only public employees without this benefit. HELU-NM has been meeting with many state legislators all summer, and they developed a survey to gather data, collect testimony, and raise awareness about this important issue. It will be used to continue to press legislators for affordable coverage for all higher ed workers. Please share this survey widely, including with any colleagues working in higher ed in New Mexico. Save the date for our next HELU-NM legislative push on September 17th.
