International Workers Day
Thanks to our members for such a great turnout to the May Day rally and march! The event was packed with music, inspiring stories, and even a giant puppet show. It was great to see so many people in solidarity prioritizing the well-being of workers over billionaires.
UA-UNM Executive Officer Elections
The election for Executive Officers will be held by online voting, via OpaVote. The election will open Monday, May 11th-the Monday of finals week-and continue until Friday, May 22nd. All dues-paying members are eligible to vote. Please email us with questions or requests for information.
UNM Presidential Search
As you know, UNM is in the middle of the interviews with presidential candidates. We encourage everyone to attend as many talks and events as possible and/or to watch the recordings and read other available information and provide input here. Note the very limited time frame for viewing recordings and offering feedback, as stated on the website. “Open Forum recordings and feedback surveys are available for 24 hours following each candidate’s visit. Additionally, recordings and surveys will be made available for 24 hours following the conclusion of the final candidate’s visit, from 5pm on May 13 until 5pm on May 14.”
UNM Provost Search
UNM’s search for a Provost is also happening now! Similarly to the Presidential Search, it is important that we participate to the fullest extent possible by attending talks and events and/or watching the recordings and reviewing other information – see the schedule here. We can provide input here. There is also a limited time frame for viewing recordings and providing feedback.

Check out our website for a new Union Resources page! There you can find a new Term Teacher Guide, which provides helpful information on the pathway to becoming a Term Teacher. This page also includes details about our International Faculty Legal Defense Fund, which UA-UNM established specifically to support International Faculty. You can apply for these funds here.
