Dear UA-UNM Colleagues,
Our Fall General Membership Meeting is fast approaching! Join us on Thursday, October 16 at 5:00pm in the PAIS Building (starting with dinner in the lobby) and followed by a Happy Hour from 7:00-8:00pm at Flock of Moons (only 1 block away)! The meeting will include updates from our President, Treasurer, Organizing Committee and Bargaining Committee. After that we will have open discussion about the ongoing attacks on higher education and unions, and what you can do about it. UA-UNM’s International Legal Defense fund happened because of ideas and concerns brought by you and your colleagues to the last GMM. Your voice matters! RSVP here! (Zoom link provided with RSVP).
Election day is November 4th. UA-UNM is a member of Unified COPE (Committee on Political Education), which includes the Albuquerque Teachers Federation (ATF), Albuquerque Federation of Classified Professionals (AFCP), UA-UNM, and the AFT NM Retirees unions. As part of Unified COPE, UA-UNM is endorsing a number of pro-union, pro-teacher, pro-public education candidates for Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) School Board: Rebecca Betzen (District 3), Kristin Wood-Hegner (District 7), and our very own UA-UNM member, Warigia Bowman (District 6)! Learn more about our endorsed candidates on the Albuquerque Teachers’ Federation website, and make your voice heard in our local elections.
