Dear UA-UNM Colleagues,
Finals week is upon us! We hope your classes wrapped up well and your winter break is in sight! We have two important events coming up in the next week that are pivotal to securing the strongest contract possible.
Bargaining Mediation is next Monday, December 15 at 9:00 am in Dane Smith Hall 126–128. The final terms of our contract are likely to be determined at this meeting. UA-UNM members will be picketing at 8:00 am outside classrooms 126–128 in Dane Smith Hall to show our support for a fair contract. Does this seem like terrible timing? We believe this is intentional. UNM Administration thinks that faculty will be too busy with grading to show up. However, we know that you will help us prove them wrong! RSVP here and bring signs and wear your union t-shirts, buttons, etc.!
Speaking of signs, to prepare for the Bargaining Mediation picket, we are having a sign-making and snacks event to prepare for mediation! Meet us on Friday, December 12 from 12:00–2:00 pm in the Art Foundation Studio, Building 84, Room 252 to make signs to show our union strength at the mediation.
This past Saturday, 15 UA-UNM members attended the American Federation of Teachers New Mexico Every Conversation Counts Organizing Academy class. Strong unions are built one conversation at a time, and your union stewards and other members devoted their time to learn how to better communicate our union vision to members and non-members alike.
