Dear UA-UNM Colleagues,
As you know, your faculty union represents faculty from across UNM’s five campuses, and we continue to work together for the improvement of our working conditions. In addition to joining your union and encouraging your colleagues to join (use this link: https://connect.aft.org/app/memberforms/06662/join), one of the most important ways you can participate is to attend the twice yearly General Membership Meetings. This is a chance to build community with your colleagues, hear from your union leaders, and share your input. The Fall General Membership Meeting is Thursday, October 16 at 5:00pm in the PAIS Building (starting with dinner in the lobby) and followed by a Happy Hour from 7:00-8:00pm at Flock of Moons (only 1 block away)! A Zoom option will be available. RSVP here!
The UA-UNM Organizing Committee held a very successful Stewards Training this past Saturday 9/13 with over twenty colleagues in attendance. We are still seeking strong leaders like you to help strengthen our workplace community. Stewards play a crucial role in supporting colleagues and keeping communication open between members and leadership.
Responsibilities include:
- Attend twice-yearly organizing training meetings
- Participate in a monthly stewards meeting (3-4 per semester)
- Gaining familiarity with our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
- Stay connected and be the first point of union communication with approximately 20 colleagues
